This breathtaking fully sorted and raring to go GT 40 reproduction is for sale. The car was built by Africa40 with lightweight and good handling in mind, and not only designed to be used on the road, but on the racetrack as well.
Under the hood is a Ford V8 motor capable of producing 380hp at 6000r.p.m. The powertrain has logged 3 500km on the road and you could say it has only just run-in.
Breathing is taken care of through a Holley 600 carb, Edelbrock intake and Performer RPM aluminium heads, MSD distributor and a stage 3 cam. Pistons are from K.B. giving a 10.6 to 1 compression ratio, still totally streetable.
The gearbox is an Audi 5 speed unit with button clutch and is more than comfortable with the horsepower. Cooling is provided with a tried and tested custom radiator coupled to two electric fans.
The total weight of the car is approximately 930kg which is not bad considering some of the originals weighed as much as 1.3 tons. Coil-over-shocks and fully rose-jointed suspension complete with a lightweight spaceframe clad in aluminium and a lightweight body make for stunning track performance.
In the cockpit, Smith’s gauges, racing bucket seats, polished aluminium, 4-point harness, and an original style steering wheel are all in keeping with the 60’s style racing legend.
